Everything was decided in the first minutes of the game. Levice had a dream start, Wels on the other hand, didn’t bounce back from that beginning. Patrioti scored 19 points in a row, their game being handled by McCallum and Lacy. The visitors managed to bounce back a little, but after the first quarter they were trailing 12:24. The second period started with a lot of mistakes, Levice got back into their game and were controlling the match. After 4 minutes the score was 34:14, after the first half it was even bigger – 51:21.

After the break, pretty much nothing changed, both coaches gave opportunities to players from the bench. Wels didn’t respond at all to the big margin from the beginning of the match. So the second half was just about the final score. Patrioti controlled the tempo, after a 93:64 win; they are unbeaten in group A.

Post-game quotes:

Michal Madzin, coach of Patrioti: „We had a big respect before Wels, but we were ready. We started with big energy, that opened the match, after that we could enjoy it. On the other hand, we play much easier, when we get so many baskets. I am happy for the energy, we showed for most of the match. In some parts it could have been better, but I am happy for this match.“

Deshawn Freeman, player of Patrioti: „I think, we played pretty well. We entered the match on a 19:0 run, from that we bounced. Everybody played well, and we took care of the business.“

Sebastian Waser, coach of Wels: „We can say, that the match ended for us before it started. We had a long trip here, but this can not be an excuse. We missed two key players, we had the flu on the team, and we didn’t practice. Levice did from the beginning a good job, we couldn’t match their physicality and intensity. The right team won, we didn’t have a chance.“

Christian von Fintel, player of Wels: „Big respect to Levice, they did an amazing job. From the beginning, they took advantage of our mistakes. We weren’t ready for the start, we didn’t execute our game plan at all. For these reasons we lost.“
