Not a big scoring quarter for both teams at first season game in Alpe Adria Cup. Both coaches made a lot of substitutions, and those on the home team were a bit more successful. GGD Šenčur before the end of the first period led by 8 points (18:10). Vujoševič for Vienna made a jumper and that was the final result at the end of the first quarter. Two and a half minutes into the second period, Miljan Pavković  called a timeout because Vienna came closer (24:20). Home team reacted perfectly and made partial score 11:0 and after three points of Martinčič guest team had to call timeout (31:20). The difference became even higher with two minutes to go when GGD Šenčur had a lead 37:23. At halftime, the score was 39:26 for the home team.

The third quarter extended the offensive weakness of team GMMT Vienna, who didn’t score in the first three and a half minutes. In the meantime GGD Šenčur scored four points and the gap was obviously 43:26. When Martinčič hit another bomb from the corner and big guy Hasan Rizvić scored under the pain, the home team led by 22 points (50:28). After a timeout, both teams continued with a bomb far from the rim. Strmčnik scored twice, also did Siriščević for Vienna. Before the last period of the game, GGD Šenčur had a lead of 24 points (61:37). Fourth quarter didn’t change a lot for the guest team who struggled, but Šenčur’s players were in  great offensive shape, but we should not forget about home defense energy and strangeness which allowed team Vienna to score only 67 points.

Post-game quotes:

Miljan Pavković, coach of Šenčur: “We wanted so start AAC with success. It is very important how to start a season, especially for our self-esteem. I’m very satisfied with the players attitude. They played with a lot of energy and confidence. I managed to combine minutes for all players. This win is very good for the AAC competition and for Slovenian league.”

Emir Ahmetović, player of Šenčur: “The game was quite difficult, whatever result does not show the same. Our attitude was great, and we supported each other during all 40 minutes. Our effort brought us to victory.”

Aramis Naglić, coach of Vienna: “We knew that we would face  a very strong opponent. I think GGD Šenčur is the strongest team in our group. We step into the game soft. We should know that there is another level of basketball. We’ll have to work a lot in the future.”

Adin Vrabac, player of Vienna: “I tried before the game to tell everyone that this game will be very difficult. GGD Šenčur is a great team, especially at home. They knew what to do, and they were much more aggressive. GGD Šenčur simply overplayed us. Hope is going to get better in the future.”
