After a narrow defeat in the first game, the home team knew that they must win by a minimum of 2 points in this game. They started very aggressive off and on the ball and tried to put Kolín under early pressure. Their high pressure on defense brought them many defensive rebounds in the first quarter. Offensively seen, Manigat tried to set a statement and scored three 3-pointer witihin the first 10 minutes. Kolin rotated to keep their intensity high but was already behind by 15 points (32:17). After the first short break Kolín had a very good start with 2 3-pointer within one minute which forced coach Naglić to an early time-out. A continued high hit rate brought Kolín closer to Vienna (five 3-pointer in this quarter). Nevertheless, the quarter ended with a +10 points lead for Vienna (51:41).

The next 5 minutes were very balanced. Both teams kept the intensity in their offensive play high – both teams scored alternately. The home team was able to extend their lead, compared to the last quarter, by 3 points and ended this part with 75:62. Kolín fought very hard to get to the basket. Vienna on the other side worked very intense on the rebounds and was able to achieve many counterattacks. In the end Vienna was able to prevail against Kolín and thus reached the entrance to the Alpe Adria Cup Final Four.

Post-game quotes:

Enis Murati, player of Vienna: “I think we started very focused and made a statement in the first quarter and maintained it through the whole game. We had the lead and played very well today.”

Jozo Rados, player of Vienna: “It was a great victory for us. This was our goal – to reach the final four again, like last year. With this win, we deserve to be in the final four and we are looking forward to it.”

Adam Konvalinka, coach of Kolín: “Congratulations to Vienna for reaching the Final Four. Our start was bad – the first quarter was the result of this game. We fought back but we didn’t get under 8 points and we lost on the rebounds. Our 14 turnovers were the game changer. SO congratulations to the home team and good luck for the season.”

Pavol Lošonský, player of Kolín: “It was a good game – congratulations to Vienna. We got behind very early in the game, we were almost down by 20, I think, and it was very difficult to come back. By halftime we got it down by 10 points and we were trying to fight back – I think we made some good runs, but Vienna was just the better team today. Congratulations to them once again.”
