Rajaofera started with the first points for the guests shortly after tip-off. Dubrava put pressure on the defense relatively early in that game and defended across the entire field. Both teams set an incredible pace offensively, and the points fell equally on both sides. At the end of the quarter, BC Vienna had a bit more luck scoring and won the first quarter 26:23. Towards the middle of the second quarter, Dubrava’s concentration dropped significantly, and coach Bagaric’s men made a few mistakes. BC Vienna knew how to make good use of this and was able to expand their lead step by step. The short bench rotation became noticeable for the hosts, BC Vienna, shortly before the break. Nevertheless, with a very good final minute of the game, BC Vienna was able to take a +14 lead into the half-time break (49:35).
Back from the locker room, both teams appear motivated and drive energetically to the basket. The fouls are increasing on both sides, which means there are more free-throw situations. Dubrava tries to catch up but can’t get much closer. A solid team game from BC Vienna once again emerged as quarter winners (69:54). An unexpected 6:0 run from Dubrava right at the beginning of the last period suddenly made the game really exciting again. However, the captain of the home team didn’t wait long for an answer and scored two three-pointers in the offense that followed. After 5 minutes, Vienna’s lead was already +20 points. KK Dubrava didn’t give up and tried to turn the tide again by pressing. However, they couldn’t change the result, and BC Vienna won the last AAC game of the season with a score of 94:74.
Post-game quotes:
Hrvoje Radanović, coach of Vienna: „Congratulations to the team. We finished the season of the Alpe Adria Cup, and now we’re going to turn our focus completely on the Austrian league.“
Bogić Vujošević, player of Vienna: “We didn’t pass the second round, but I think we get something from this season of the Alpe Adria Cup. A lot of young guys feel the senior basketball on an international level. It’s a step forward for us, and we want to be ready.“
Marijan Bagarić, coach of Dubrava: “Congratulations to Vienna – great game. They had a great night, and they scored 50% from three points, and we allowed them to do that. We keep working on our defense. We started some new stuff as I came in as a new head coach, so I hope everything will come into its place as soon as possible because it’s necessary because we have more games. This was the last game of the Alpe Adria Cup, and we didn’t qualify for this Final Four, but it was a nice experience for the young players, us coaches, and I hope to see everybody next year too.“
